How to add new people

  1. Go to School Room welcome (login if necessary).
  2. Go to the admin page and tap on the plus symbol next to the school.
  3. Tap the Staff or Student buttons to add new members one at a time.
  4. Tap the Import button to use a spreadsheet. More below...
Names

Student names can be shortened or changed as you see fit.

For staff names, just use initials. That is enough for students to recognise.

Email Addresses

Email addresses are one-way encrypted and cannot be unencrypted.

They can be used to cross-match with existing students in the database.

So, re-importing to change groups is easy and won't overwriting existing data.

Bulk Import from spreadsheet

Pick the spreadsheet you want to open.

The app will then try to work out which columns to use. It can cope with a wide variety of different spreadsheet layouts but will ask for help if it is not sure.

Before you import, you can check the report to confirm it is doing what you want.

Expected columns:

  1. A valid email column using the email address that students will use.
  2. A Name for each student, the format and content is up to you.
  3. A Group column to put students in the correct groups (optional).

The group column is optional but highly recommended to make administration easier.

Tap on "Import" once you are happy with the lists.

The report shows you exactly what will be imported.

If there are errors, it will show you clearly where they are so you can correct them and try again.
